Steve Marriott, who was the leader of Humble Pie and a member of the British rock group Small Faces, died today in a fire at his home, the police said. He was 44 years old.

Humble Pie were an English hard rock band from Moreton, Essex. Formed in January 1969, the group originally included vocalist and guitarist Steve Marriott, guitarist and vocalist Peter Frampton, bassist and vocalist Greg Ridley, and drummer Jerry Shirley.
